Talking Across Difference

Major: Journalism & Media Studies

Bio: Anna Levinson is a junior Journalism and Media Studies Major who is interested in writing articles and supporting student groups across campus. Outside of Talking Across Difference, she is passionate about sustainable fashion and loves to crochet.

Major: English

Bio: Alliyah is a junior majoring in English and minoring in Political Science. She is passionate about political advocacy, civic engagement, and the role of dialogue in strengthening communities. She is deeply involved in the Rutgers student body, ranging from her experience in RUSA as one of the 2028 SAS Class Representatives, a member of the Rutgers Muslim Student Association, and various cultural clubs on campus.

Alvin Mak is a senior in the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Political Science with a minor in Biology. On campus, Alvin serves as Chapter President of Phi Alpha Delta, Rutgers' pre-law fraternity, Executive Editor of the Rutgers Undergraduate Law Review, and is the university's official LSAT tutor. 

 George is a Junior majoring in Political Science and minoring in History and PPE. He is a part of the Institute for Domestic and International Affairs as a Director in the upcoming year! George is also part of the Undergraduate Law Review as an External Editor and was a Summer Digital Content Creator for the Democracy Lab. Outside of campus extracurricular activities, George works at a local law firm dealing with real estate and matrimonial cases as an intern.

Major: Economics and Political Science

Bio: Kevin Cho is a rising junior at Rutgers University pursuing a double major in Political Science and Economics, as well as minors in Korean, Critical Intelligence Studies, and Global Studies. His academic interests primarily revolve around International Political Economy, Defense Economics, and East Asian Foreign Policy. In his spare time, he enjoys film and digital photography, as well as long walks around College Avenue.

Major: Finance and Political Science

Bio: Kumin Bal is a third-year student studying Finance and Political Science. At Rutgers, she conducted research as an Aresty Summer Science Researcher, examining how the evolution of social media has impacted a sense community and political discourse. She also served as a member of the Honors College Dean’s Committee and as a Rutgers Democracy Lab intern during the summer.

Major: Public Policy

Bio: Norma Sarofiem is a first generation sophomore from Jersey City, New Jersey. Studying Public Policy with a minor in Human Resource Management. For Norma, work begins in her own community. She serves as an Advisory Board Member for Project Pantree, a youth led nonprofit fighting food insecurity, and interns with the Youth Foundation of Jersey City to coordinate summer internship programs.

Major: Biological Sciences & Public Health

Bio: Nyasa is a rising 2nd year student on the premed track, majoring in Biological Sciences and Public Health. She is passionate about community engagement and advocation, on top of her hobbies such as swimming, running, and reading. By the end of this year she hopes to learn some calisthenic skills and hopefully pick up a language

Major: Psychology

Bio: Tania is a junior in the School of Arts and Sciences studying Psychology with a minor in Data Science. On campus, she serves as Secretary of the Rutgers Psychological Alliance, a Peer Mentor with the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services, and a Scarlet Ambassador for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Major: Public Policy

Bio: Tesia Yachimovicz is a sophomore at Rutgers University double majoring in Public Policy and Information Technology and Informatics with a minor in Critical Intelligence Studies. She serves as School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) Senate Leader and Douglass Senator in the Rutgers University Student Assembly, representing over 2,500 Douglass Residential College and 23,000 SAS students.

Major: Finance & Political Science

Bio: Varshini is a junior double majoring in Political Science and Finance. As a first-generation immigrant, she is passionate about fostering inclusive communities where every voice is heard. As an RDL Think and Do Tank Fellow, she developed a funding proposal to make internships more accessible by addressing transportation barriers for students.
