Bio
Atl Castro Asmussen is the Program Coordinator for the Technology and Democracy Research Hub at the Rutgers Democracy Lab. He works closely with the Director to develop student programming, draft external communications, and support research projects from conceptualization to publication. He is interested in exploring how emerging technologies effect informed political decision-making and the opportunities they present to reimagine and scale democratic engagement.
Before joining the Lab, Atl worked as a Writer and Researcher for the Federation for Innovation in Democracy — North America, publishing its first policy white paper that developed a conceptual framework for the term political "voice insecurity." He also supported the development and analysis of political deliberations on diverse policy proposals with Stanford University's Deliberative Democracy Lab and helped organize and facilitate America in One Room Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Distinction in the Major from Yale University in 2024.
