Voting Across Difference
Information
Join Talking Across Difference (TAD) for an interactive workshop exploring voting systems and how elections shape civic life. This engaging session will introduce participants to Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), a system where voters rank candidates in order of preference, and examine how different election methods impact outcomes and representation.
Through a hands-on simulation, participants will take part in a mock election featuring both a primary and general election. In small-group discussions, you’ll evaluate candidates, discuss priorities, and explore how compromise and coalition-building influence results in an RCV system.
What to Expect:
● Interactive election simulation (primary + general election)
● Small-group discussions on candidates and decision-making
● A deeper understanding of voting systems and civic engagement
You’ll leave with practical insight into how voting systems work and how to think more critically and strategically about elections and participation in democracy.
This workshop is open to all Rutgers students, regardless of major or year. Whether you're interested in politics, public policy, or simply want to better understand how elections work, this event is for you.
