Constitution Day Conversation, 2026

To mark Constitution Day, the Eagleton Institute of Politics will welcome constitutional scholar Akhil Reed Amar for a discussion exploring the Constitution’s enduring influence on American democracy. Moderated by CNN Senior Legal Analyst Elie Honig, the conversation will examine the evolution of constitutional principles from the Declaration of Independence to the Fourteenth Amendment to today’s debates over equality, citizenship, and constitutional rights. Following the lecture, Professor Amar will sign copies of his books, Born Equal: Remaking America’s Constitution, 1840–1920 and The Words That Made Us: America’s Constitutional Conversation, 1760–1840. With registration, attendees may choose one complimentary copy of either book, while supplies last.
